Most software companies don't publish a magazine. Commenda does, and we are now building the rest of our media operation. We're hiring a video producer and editor to build Commenda's video work from the ground up.

About Commenda

Commenda is the first AI-native global compliance platform. Companies use Commenda to incorporate, file taxes, and stay compliant in more than 70 countries, instead of piecing that work together from local law firms, point solutions, and spreadsheets. More than 500 companies use Commenda, including Razorpay, Remote, Pine Labs, and MPL. We're backed by Pelion, UIF, 1517, and Boost.

About Commenda Media

Commenda Media is our editorial arm. Today it is a print and digital magazine covering the people, technology, and policies that make global economic liberty operational, read by entrepreneurs, policymakers, tax attorneys, economists, and technologists around the world. Next, we plan to expand into our own data stories, podcasts, video, and reporting.

The role

Commenda has a magazine, a clear point of view, and leaders with something to say, but no video operation. Our audience of founders, operators, finance leaders, and the tech and policy crowd on X and LinkedIn increasingly forms opinions through video.

You'll produce thought-leadership video with our CEO, Head of Operations, and other Commenda leaders. With the Head of Media and our editorial and marketing teams, you'll build a recurring show featuring founders, operators, economists, investors, and policymakers talking about how the world actually trades.

Editorial standards

Everything we publish should be worth someone's time, and we hold it to a high standard of quality, rigor, and craft. Our magazine has argued that for 88 percent of countries, regulation now costs exporters more than tariffs do. It is a real argument backed by evidence. Our video should meet the same standard. We are not interested in corporate video, with its talking heads and stock-music beds. We want work that travels on X, LinkedIn, and Instagram on its merits.

What you'll do

  • Produce video end to end, from booking and recording through editing, captioning, and publishing.
  • Develop the show's format, segments, and guest strategy.
  • Book guests and build lasting relationships with them. Do the same with the customers and viewers who gather around the show.
  • Turn long conversations into short-form video built for each platform, publishing clips at least twice a week. Every episode should yield a week of clips.
  • Write titles, hooks, and captions, working with the writer.
  • Ideally, appear on camera as host or co-host where it serves the show.
  • Own your editorial calendar and publish at pace.
  • Build AI-assisted workflows for transcription, rough cuts, clip selection, captions, and repurposing, so a small team can publish like a large one.
  • Measure what moved, including reach, audience growth, and pipeline, and adjust.

What we're looking for

We care more about what you've made than about your title history.

  • A portfolio of published video, ideally including social-first work.
  • Fluency in professional editing software, with fast turnaround.
  • A commitment to craft: rigorous research and prep, a precise edit, and work that is beautiful to watch.
  • Taste and judgment, and the ability to explain your editorial choices.
  • A considered view of new media. You know what a16z, TBPN, MTS, and the wave of social-first shows get right, where they fall short, and what you'd do differently.
  • Editorial instinct. You recognize a story when you hear one, and you know the difference between a clip that spreads and one that goes stale.
  • The ability to bring people in, whether through presence on camera, a strong network, or a community you've already built.
  • Genuine interest in international affairs, business, economics, entrepreneurship, and technology.

A background in journalism, documentary, or podcast production, or motion graphics and thumbnail skills, is a plus.

What we believe

Free markets and global commerce built the modern world, and they are necessary for its continued growth and economic prosperity. You should share that conviction and want to make the case for it well, including to people who don't yet agree.

How we work

You'll report to the Head of Media, who runs both Commenda's content marketing and Commenda Media. You'll work closely with the editorial, design, and marketing teams. Day-to-day editorial and production decisions are yours. We move quickly and hold a high bar. The people who do well here want more responsibility and to build something they feel proud of owning.

The Head of Media is based in Austin, so Austin is preferred. We also favor candidates in Seattle, NYC, and SF, and will consider candidates from all locations.
