ABOUT THIS ROLE

LVT is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the team at our American Fork HQ and Spanish Fork MFG facilities. Here you will work on core development for AI/ML enabled security solutions including but not limited to optical pan/tilt cameras, batteries, solar power, electronics packaging, mechanisms, sensors and payloads. The role requires high ownership and frequent collaboration with other core disciplines. The ideal candidate would be practical, hands-on and a self starter. High growth potential is possible as well as additional leadership opportunities present themselves.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute rapid evaluation of engineering concepts in a wide range of fieldsIdentify partners in industry to engage with, and manage early vendor relationships

  • Perform trade studies and physics-based analysis of various engineering problems

  • Manage internal and external market research and comparisons

  • Design, implementation, and test of complex electro-mechanical systems (including actuators, wiring harness, sensor integration)

  • Capable of system ownership operating in an area of professional autonomy

  • Demonstrated cross-functional experience (interfacing with electrical, embedded, and manufacturing eng)

  • Lead design reviews, run analysis, visit vendors, define and execute hardware test plans

  • Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into production

  • Support critical hardware demonstrations with customers as needed

  • Travel to test sites as needed

  • Use first principles physics as a basis for every decision

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience developing complex embedded products (consumer electronics, IoT, drones, camera systems, industrial automation, etc.)**Design portfolio required**

  • BS, MS in an engineering field, or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years of mechanical/design experience in a professional setting

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a professional setting

  • CAD skills (PTC Creo and Windchill preferred) and ability to make high-quality engineering drawings that meet industry standards)

  • High competence with, and fluid use of, engineering first principles

  • Mentorship Experience

  • DFM experience for sheet metal, welding, injection molding preferred
