We are seeking a forward-thinking leader for our newly constituted Data Product and Services team who is experienced in modern and evolving capabilities to optimally use AI, data science and machine learning to drive operational excellence, improved customer experiences and better overall product performance. The team will be responsible for capturing, maintaining, enriching both internal MX data, as well as external customer related data and providing meaningful insights to power internal functional and operational needs (e.g. reports and analytics) and our external product offerings. The function will serve internal MX clients from across our organization including Product, Technology, Finance, Marketing, People, Legal, and our Commercial Customer Segment teams. In addition, the team will be responsible for our Data Enhancement and Enrichment product lines. This leader should be used to working in an entrepreneurial, collaborative environment and have a history of scaling teams and services to meet global growth needs and being a public facing advocate for this space. With approximately 50 full-time employees comprising data scientists, analysts, and product managers, this leadership role will report to our Chief Product Officer and collaborate closely with our head of Data Engineering and cross-functional leaders. The ideal experience for the candidate would include working within the Financial Services and/or Fintech space and history of developing scalable insights that drive measurable internal efficiencies (e.g. improving sale cycle) and customer related intelligence that help banks and fintechs improve the financial lives of their customers (e.g. spend analysis, savings strategies).

Job Duties:

The key specific functions that are part of this team include:

  • Product Leadership: End to end responsibility for our customer facing Data Enhancement and Enrichment product lines

  • Data Science: Focused on using AI, ML and other modern techniques to serve the data needs of internal and external customers, including our various product lines (Connectivity, Data, and Experiences).

  • External Customer Analytics: Responsible for building out insight and intelligence which help our external customers better understand the needs of their consumers.

  • Product Analytics: Drive all internal instrumentation and insights for our various product teams.

  • Business Intelligence: Responsible for meeting the data and analytic needs of all company functions.

  • Data Analytics: provide data enhancements for our current Data Enhancement and Enrichment product offering.

  • Inspire and lead your team to deliver data and strategic and novel data science, and engineering approaches that help optimize and guide MX's decisions related to product.

  • Make a strategic impact at a senior level including interacting with product and company leadership on intricate issues and applying strong judgment and analysis toward important business decisions.

  • Participate heavily in MX’s product team: help set business strategy, represent content data science and engineering, initiate and debate key strategic topics and opportunities from your team’s work, and drive bold high-impact decisions.

  • Grow and expand your expert team with an eye toward diverse and forward-pushing skills that span machine learning methods, data engineering, tooling and revealing unknowns in financial data products, and analytics.

Job Requirements…

  • Successful experience in building, leading and guiding expert data science, analytics, and engineering teams comprising both leaders and individual contributors, and are adept at figuring out ways to help them flourish

  • 15 years of management experience in leading and developing data science teams

  • 10 years of data science, advanced analytics and machine learning experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication and leadership skills to collaborate cross-functionally and lead through influence across functional and organizational lines

  • MS or Ph.D. in Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or Machine Learning, etc.

  • High proficiency in Python, Spark, Scala, R, SQL, or MatLab

  • Broad technical background in data products and visualization, data and behavioral analytics, advanced metrics, statistics, machine learning, causal methods, and data engineering and architecture

  • Strong ability to solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to improve the diversity of thought of the broader DS team through your background and/or experience

  • Proven expertise synthesizing and presenting research/technical findings to diverse audiences

  • Solid experience in the financial domain and familiarity with financial models

Work Environment

At MX, we utilize a hybrid work model, which allows us to attract top talent and increase impact through collaboration. Our team members enjoy a balance of remote work and in-office days. Travel expectations for remote employees is about 15%, and the company covers travel expenses for remote employees. Local employees will utilize in-office time on a weekly basis Tuesday through Thursday. Compensation

The expected on-target earnings (OTE), which is comprised of a base salary and other forms of cash compensation, such as bonus or commissions is currently $200,000 to $460,000. This pay range is just one component of MX's total rewards package. MX takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location, skillset, peer compensation.
