About Torus

Torus is headquartered in Utah and is expanding manufacturing at our 540,000-square-foot facility in Salt Lake City called GigaOne. Our mission is to build the world's first mesh energy infrastructure — built to unite people and communities through resilient, secure, and intelligent power. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and support our systems end-to-end, standing behind them throughout their lifecycle. Torus systems help reduce costs, lower emissions, and protect facilities from outages, while strengthening the security and reliability of the broader utility grid. Torus is committed to American manufacturing, engineering excellence, and building energy systems that last.

At Torus, you will be part of something larger than a single product or technology. Your work will help build energy infrastructure that supports critical systems, industry, and communities for decades to come. We value accountability, collaboration, and clear thinking. We are looking for people who want to solve hard problems and build things that matter.

Torus is seeking a People Operations Generalist to own onboarding and day-to-day HR operations as we scale rapidly across manufacturing and technical teams. This role is the engine behind a smooth employee experience—ensuring every new hire is set up for success on Day 1, and that core People Ops processes run cleanly, consistently, and fast.

As a strategic partner to Recruiting, Payroll, the Chief People Officer, and HRBPs, you'll manage the essential operations that keep our teams running smoothly: onboarding, employee transitions, documentation, compliance, and frontline HR support. You'll create structure where needed, respond quickly to challenges, and strengthen our culture through dependable processes and consistent follow-through.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, people-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where priorities move quickly and details matter.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end onboarding operations, ensuring every new hire is set up for a strong Day 1.
  • Coordinate orientation scheduling, communications, and tracking on a consistent cadence.
  • Execute onboarding workflows from offer → start date, including pre-employment steps and readiness checks.
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure tools, access, and training plans are ready before Day 1.
  • Serve as the first line for People Ops support, triaging employee questions and closing loops quickly.
  • Maintain accurate employee data and records (job changes, manager changes, org updates, status changes).
  • Coordinate employee lifecycle actions (promotions, transfers, role updates, separations) with clean documentation.
  • Support offboarding execution, ensuring consistent checklists, handoffs, and system/process follow-through.
  • Build and improve People Ops workflows, templates, and SOPs that scale as we grow.
  • Support special projects and administrative HR needs as required (process improvements, audits, communications, reporting, and team priorities).

Required Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in People Operations / HR Generalist / HR Ops / HR Coordinator roles (or similar)
  • Hands-on experience owning onboarding logistics and employee lifecycle processes (hire > changes > offboarding)
  • Strong operational execution: able to manage high volume, follow up relentlessly, and close loops
  • Experience working with an HRIS and maintaining clean data (e.g., Rippling, Workday, ADP, BambooHR, etc.)
  • Experience supporting both hourly and salaried employee populations in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of core HR fundamentals (documentation, confidentiality, basic compliance, employee experience best practices)
  • High attention to detail, strong written communication, and excellent organization/time management
  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with Recruiting, Payroll, and People Partners
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and good judgment
  • Based in or near Utah with ability to work in person as needed

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in a high-growth startup or scaling environment
  • Exposure to manufacturing or high-volume hourly teams
  • Familiarity with Rippling (or similar HRIS) and process automation
  • Experience running orientation/onboarding programs at scale

You’ll be a great fit if you’re excited by solving complex, real-world energy challenges and enjoy work that is fast-paced, ever-evolving, and anything but boring. We’re building a mesh-based energy network that improves grid stability and resiliency, which means working at the intersection of hardware, software, and systems thinking.

We’re a growing team, so the work is dynamic and hands-on. You’ll have the opportunity to learn new technologies, take ownership, and make a visible impact quickly. That also means being flexible, pitching in where needed, and approaching the work with a scrappy, can-do mindset.

If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves, learning as you go, and working alongside smart, motivated people who care about building something meaningful, you’ll thrive here.
