About Torus

Torus is headquartered in Utah and is expanding manufacturing at our 540,000-square-foot facility in Salt Lake City called GigaOne. Our mission is to build the world’s first mesh energy infrastructure — built to unite people and communities through resilient, secure, and intelligent power. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and support our systems end-to-end, standing behind them throughout their lifecycle. Torus systems help reduce costs, lower emissions, and protect facilities from outages, while strengthening the security and reliability of the broader utility grid. Torus is committed to American manufacturing, engineering excellence, and building energy systems that last.

At Torus, you will be part of something larger than a single product or technology. Your work will help build energy infrastructure that supports critical systems, industry, and communities for decades to come. We value accountability, collaboration, and clear thinking. We are looking for people who want to solve hard problems and build things that matter.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be at the front lines of our manufacturing mission, responsible for the hands-on repair, installation, and preventive maintenance of our facility and high-tech production equipment. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will ensure our machines remain operational, safe, and efficient. Your expertise in electrical and mechanical systems will be critical in minimizing downtime and supporting the next generation of renewable energy infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment to ensure safe and dependable operations.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues promptly to minimize production downtime.
  • Execute maintenance tasks based on production priorities, ensuring urgent repairs are addressed during production hours.
  • Utilize the available maintenance window for deep-cleans, renovations, and long-term equipment upgrades.
  • Collaborate closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and cross-functional teams to identify equipment improvements.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment regularly to identify potential issues before they cause failure.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time records of all maintenance activities using our digital management tools.
  • Follow all company policies and OSHA safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and proper PPE usage.
  • Respond immediately to emergency machine-down situations on the production floor.
  • Assist in the setup and movement of new manufacturing machinery as we scale our GigaOne facility.
  • Serve as a High-Level Production Support Specialist during peak operational hours; proactively monitoring machine performance and providing immediate technical intervention to optimize throughput when maintenance backlogs are clear.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned to support the maintenance team.

Required Experience

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent and 2–5+ years of related industrial maintenance experience.
  • Must possess a strong understanding of various maintenance disciplines, including electrical systems, PLCs, motor controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, and pumps.
  • Troubleshooting Expertise: Demonstrated experience in manufacturing machine setup, operation, troubleshooting and repair, specifically in CNC Machines, Laser Cutting, Waterjet Cutting, and Presses.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical assemblies and systems. Standard preventive machine maintenance procedures.
  • Experience with both high-voltage and low-voltage electrical assemblies and wiring.
  • Skilled in interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to ensure proper equipment servicing.
  • Ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision while remaining a proactive team player.

Preferred Experience

  • Active OSHA compliant Forklift Certification.
  • Technical certifications or vocational training in electrical or mechanical disciplines.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, machine shop or assembly work.
  • Previous experience in operating production machines such as CNC machines, laser cutting, waterjet cutting, and presses
